Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a personable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our team here at Roding Valley High School. This is a permanent, part-time role (18.5 hours per week) with an immediate start.

Contract type: Part time 18.5 hours per week (2 days at 8.30am – 4.00pm, 1 day 9.00am – 3.00pm), 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days).

Salary: Scale 3 Point 5 – 6. Actual Salary: £11,414 – £11,743 (including fringe allowance).

Responsibilities
  • Build strong, positive relationships with the students you support.
  • Deliver planned learning activities and teaching programs, adapting them to meet students' needs as you go.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff, sharing relevant information about students to ensure a consistent approach.
  • Help maintain a positive and focused learning environment by promoting and reinforcing school behaviour policies.
  • Prepare and manage learning resources for lessons and activities, working under the SENCo’s/Teacher’s guidance.
  • Encourage and enable students to become more independent learners.
  • Work one-to-one or in a small group, supporting children with their education, behavioural and social development; deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions under the supervision of the SENCo/ Deputy SENCo.
  • Support students effectively in the classroom, creating a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Implement scaffolding by providing temporary, step-by-step support (e.g., writing frames and prompts) and use explicit instruction with clear examples and modelling.
  • A specialism in English or Maths would be desirable.
