The Insurance Team

Being part of Alan’s insurance community is a great opportunity to impact people’s health and wellbeing in our multiple countries of operation. We work hand in hand with data scientists, designers, engineers and product managers to build differentiating products and provide a delightful experience at a fair price. We build and manage offers for large companies and public institutions with sales and account management teams, monitor portfolio risks, manage capital, steer re‑insurance strategy, and maintain a trusting relationship with insurers and regulators.

Risk Expert – Role

As Alan’s Risk Expert, you will provide automated and scalable risk assessment tools.

Responsibilities
  • Risk modeling
    • Strengthen and automate the Solvency 2 balance sheet and capital requirements projections across health, death, and disability lines.
    • Model new risks as they arise (new products, branches, international, investment, etc.).
    • Challenge our risk appetite, propose new relevant risk metrics, and build monitoring tools.
    • Support board meeting preparation and investor communication on capital evolution and market risks.
  • Regulatory
    • Scale and automate the production of quantitative regulatory reporting, contribute to narrative (SFCR, RSR) and ORSA reports.
    • Support discussions with supervisors.
    • Assist assessment of international opportunities and help prepare the opening of new countries.
  • Capital management
    • Propose improvements to capital management in the four Alan‑present countries.
    • Manage reinsurance strategy, negotiate with partners, and analyze reinsurance reporting.
  • Team growth
    • Create processes and resources to strengthen the team’s understanding of risk and capital constraints.
    • Support identification and hiring of new talents for the Insurance and Risk teams.
Qualifications
  • Solid expertise of the Solvency 2 regulatory framework, especially for S2 accounting; knowledge of Health, Life, and Market risks is a bonus.
  • Fluent in English; written fluency in French for regulatory interactions.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical skills, and data analysis capabilities.
  • Experience automating processes and building new tools; programming skills are a plus.
  • Rigor and reliability in reporting production while working independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders.
  • Confidence learning new tools, technologies, and methodologies with creative problem‑solving approaches.
