What are Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships ?

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA PF) are for researchers holding a PhD who wish to: conduct their own research project abroad; acquire new skills; and develop their careers; under the supervision of a more experienced researcher.

Candidates have to choose between two types of MSCA PFs: European fellowships, and Global Fellowships.

The MSCA PF calls fund projects of excellence. They encourage geographical mobility, as you are required to carry out your project abroad. They encourage interdisciplinarity, and intersectorality (which, in this case, means experiencing both the academic and non-academic sectors). All domains of research and innovation are eligible for funding.

MSCA PF are funded by the European Commission; not by our university. If you contact our university about this offer and we accept to be your host institution, you still have to apply to the MSCA PF call (managed by the European Commission and not by our university).

Who can apply ? (Eligible researchers)

• At the time of the deadline call, the researcher must be in possession of a doctoral degree or have successfully defended their doctoral thesis before the call deadline.
• The researcher must have not resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the beneficiary for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately prior to the call deadline.
• The researcher must have a maximum of 8 years of research experience from the date of award of the doctoral degree.

Université Lumière Lyon 2 (ULL2) is home to around 1 000 researchers (of which around 700 hold permanent positions); and a bit more than 800 doctoral researchers.

The research carried out at ULL2 covers computer science, as well as wide range of themes and disciplines in all the humanities and social sciences, at the interface with digital sciences, the environment, health, etc. These disciplines are in constant dialogue, enabling ULL2 to be at the cutting edge of fundamental and applied research and to respond to the many challenges facing society. The university also promotes social and public innovation.

ULL2 is also affiliated with the MSH-LSE (Maison des Sciences Sociales et des Humanités-Lyon–Saint-Étienne), and 8 research federations. It is a member of the ComUE Lyon–Saint-Étienne, which coordinates the scientific strategy of the Lyon–Saint-Étienne area. It currently has 560 cooperation agreements with 370 institutions in 60 countries.

Thus, ULL2 offers a framework conducive to excellent research.

• A brief description of your project/project idea (you don't have to have entirely figured out your project, but our researchers need to be able to get an idea of it).
• The name(s) of the laboratory(ies) you are interested in.

LARHRA's expertise covers a wide range of geographical and thematic areas, from Latin America to the Maghreb and the Near East, via France and Western Europe in the broadest sense; from corporate history to the Inquisition, from urban mobility to gender studies, from architecture to the decorative arts, from medical knowledge to technical education, from territory and the environment to religious syncretisms, from memory and heritage constructions to contemporary media, and so on.

The Grants and Contracts Office offers information and support to researchers applying with Université Lumière Lyon 2. Should an ULL2 researcher accept to supervise your project, this office will accompany you during the application, by answering your questions, planning the steps until submission, proofreading your proposal, etc.
