An international environmental organization is seeking an Expert in Climate Change Adaptation. This role involves providing technical services for assessing technology needs, preparing various reports on adaptation strategies, and organizing stakeholder consultations. The ideal candidate will have experience in climate adaptation initiatives and capacity to engage multiple stakeholders in prioritizing technologies for agriculture and forestry. This is a part-time position based in Paris, France.

Expert – Climate Change Adaptation

Responsibilities

• Provide technical services on a part-time basis for assessment of technology needs for climate change adaptation activities in Mongolia.
• Create a portfolio of technologies for the agriculture and forest and land use sectors.
• Prepare a Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) report describing prioritized technologies for adaptation in Agriculture and Forest/Land Use sectors.
• Prepare a Barrier Analysis and Enabling Framework (BAEF) report on existing barriers and enabling framework to facilitate the deployment and diffusion of technology priorities.
• Prepare a Technology Action Plan (TAP) report, including 2–4 project ideas for implementation, and one policy brief per technology.
• Organize consultative stakeholder meetings and workshops (TNA validation, BAEF validation and TAP validation).
• Identify and prioritize technologies for Agriculture and Forest sectors through participatory processes with stakeholders.
• Lead the process of analyzing how prioritized technologies can be implemented, and develop an enabling framework.
• Prepare and finalize TNA, BAEF and TAP reports with stakeholder inputs.
• Provide any other inputs required for the TNA process as requested by the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and national TNA Committee.
