Job requirements
The Plant Controller will report to the ISC FP&A team, with a dotted-line relationship to the Director, Regional Controller for Europe & Canada. This role leads the local Finance teams for two manufacturing sites (Lorette and Ambert) and partners closely with cross-functional groups including Operations, Finance & Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Treasury, and Tax. This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative role requiring strong leadership and technical expertise.
Responsibilities
- Site Finance Management:
- Oversee all activities within the local Finance department, including General Accounting, Cost Accounting, Treasury, and Tax.
- Own the complete closing process under both local GAAP and U.S. GAAP; ensure accurate and timely recording of transactions (sales, inventory, fixed assets, payroll, accruals, and other accounting entries).
- Prepare and submit all required documentation to Corporate for external reporting.
- Manage monthly and quarterly reporting packages, including variance bridges vs. prior year and plan.
- Enforce corporate policies and standard operating procedures.
- Continuously challenge the Finance and Local teams to drive efficiency improvements and cost savings.
- Lead working capital management by overseeing AR/AP, ensuring timely cash collection, and optimizing cash flow.
- Manage, develop, coach, train, and evaluate all members of the Finance Department.
- Controllership & Compliance:
- Ensure all accounting procedures comply with local regulations, corporate policies, and U.S. GAAP.
- Lead national tax filings such as VAT, CVAE, etc. and maintain appropriate documentation, audit trails, and FEC management.
- Support the Director Regional Controller Europe & Canada for all year-end centralized activities (Liasse fiscale, Management report, Legal process… ) and for all French and EU compliance projects such as e-invoicing.
- Comply with Internal Balance Sheet Review Policies, internal audit requirements and French/EU policies.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes.
- Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes impacting financial operations.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment aligned with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) standards.
- Budgeting and forecasting:
- Develop and maintain the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and 5-year financial strategic plans.
- Report On Weekly Site Costs & Update Rolling Forecast
- Lead the Operations Budget and rolling Forecast processes at the site level; communicate key assumptions to stakeholders.
- Ensure accuracy in standard cost calculations.
- Analysis of site performance:
- Provide clear, concise analysis of financial results and key performance drivers, including implications for future performance.
- Analyze financial variances and communicate findings to leadership.
- Participating in setting up the Company’s KPIs (including Operations KPI - utilization, Downtime, Yield, Claims, Safety…) and owning them.
- Focusing on cost saving and tracking achievement in coordination with the Operations Team (Includes saving from Operations, WCM, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain and SG&A).
- Ad hoc analysis to Supports the Site Operations Management Team in decision making:
- Identifies opportunities to drive profitability and make recommendations to the leadership team / Perform ROI when needed.
- Analyzes and manages capital projects to ensure the correct and accurate accounting classification of all expenditures and documents, providing timely, thorough evaluation of all CARs (capital expenditures).
- Process improvements:
- Challenge financial processes in place to improve efficiency, accuracy and speed
- Influencing change, generating and confirming opportunities from Ad-hoc analysis, benchmark and trend analysis.
- Tracking performance and achievement.
- Being forward-looking and bringing visibility on future performance.
- Raising issues in a timely manner and proposing solutions.
Profile
- Master’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience supervisory experience in the accounting or finance environment.
- Advanced knowledge all accounting and tax related legislation, regulations, and reporting procedures.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Fluent in both French and English spoken and written. Good communication skills.
- Experienced with Matrix Organizations and multinational companies.
- High level of commitment and flexibility.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- A high level of organizational skills plus be very detailed oriented are critical for this position.
- Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking at improving our processes and displaying a willingness to dive into the details and help wherever necessary.
- Proficient in use of MS Office products.
- Experienced handling of an ERP system. (Experience with SAP is an advantage).
- Independent, structured and team-oriented way of working.
- Experience in SOX 404 Compliance is an advantage.
- Range Salary according to profile.
