A medical device company in France is seeking a Sr. Medical Affairs Manager to lead the development and execution of Medical Affairs strategy for Switzerland & Austria. The candidate will engage key opinion leaders, collaborate cross-functionally, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements while enhancing product adoption. The ideal applicant will have a strong background in diabetes, excellent communication skills in German and English, and experience in a Medical Affairs role.

The Medical Affairs Lead for Switzerland & Austria is accountable for developing and executing the Medical Affairs strategy for the 2 countries. They lead the creation and execution of the country medical plans in alignment with the business objectives of the Insulet’s affiliate. The medical plans encompass value‑generating activities on medical education, evidence generation and dissemination, HCP and KOL engagement, and internal knowledge and insights translation. The Medical Affairs Sr. Manager leads, aligns with and influences a number of cross‑functional partners (commercial, marketing, market access, regulatory, sales excellence) in Austria & Switzerland to ensure proper execution of the medical plans.
The Medical Affairs Sr. Manager is a key member of the DACH leadership team. They work closely with Insulet’s affiliate cross‑functional team to ensure the information, education, and research needs of HCPs are met and to ensure scientific and technical training needs of commercial and advocacy organizations are identified and met.
One of the priorities for this individual will be key opinion leader (KOL) engagement and local evidence generation. This includes establishing, fostering, cultivating and maintaining relationships with KOLs as a conduit for accurate and updated clinical, scientific and medical information between KOLs and the company. The person will also ensure local evidence is being generated, fulfilling local needs and in alignment with the global evidence generation strategy.
This role works closely with Global and other in‑country Medical Affairs colleagues to lead the development of robust country launch plans for new products, and execute them with excellence. The role will have and maintain an in‑depth understanding of diabetes, the current and future treatment landscape along with ongoing clinical research with a focus on the diabetes device market.
This individual has leadership responsibilities to ensure the execution of all above tasks. They will be responsible to lead a team in the development and successful execution of medical strategies and tactics that enhances regulatory approval, customer access and adoption of Omnipod products in the region.
Supervise country and regional Medical Affairs staff focused on delivering the medical objectives for the region by providing direction, guidance and oversight of assigned projects and accountabilities
Develop and lead the execution of the Medical Affairs strategy at a country and regional level through cross‑functional collaboration and influence – supporting efficient go‑to‑market plans for Switzerland & Austria
Lead, establish and execute the local medical education plans for Switzerland & Austria: educate HCP with online/ in‑person blended offerings (on‑demand, webinars, Peer‑to‑Peer training), deliver medical education at congresses and symposiums, support product training with generation and delivery of medical content
Inform & strategize evidence generation plans, in answer to fulfil market access, regulatory and marketing needs
Support the local execution of Insulet-sponsored and Investigator‑Initiated trials
Disseminate evidence within local markets
Identify and engage with HCP to inform and seek advice on the company’s solutions, through the execution of advisory boards, clinical activity, scientific Exchange and educational Events
Establish and maintain credible peer‑to‑peer scientific relationships with national and regional KOLs
Build confidence and advocacy among key external influencers (KOLs)
Build and share knowledge with internal and external stakeholders regarding the use and benefits of current and future Insulet products
Work collaboratively with cross‑functional partners
Translate clinical data into scientifically sound, tangible insights and claims
Review and approve externally‑facing materials for scientific and medical accuracy
Review scientific and medical content for externally‑facing content, using the Veeva system
Answer HCP medical queries
Assist with sales events such as pump clinics, pump support groups, info sessions, in‑the‑office educational events, patient info nights, advocacy events, etc.
Maintain a thorough and detailed working knowledge of the organization and its products, current scientific research and publications
Perform other duties as required
Local/Regional Medical strategy, including launch plans; KOL engagement activity; Medical Education activities for Switzerland & Austria
MD, PharmD, PhD or MS in life science or an equivalent
Strong and relevant or equivalent Medical Affairs experience in diabetes within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry
In‑depth understanding of the diabetes disease state, the current/future treatment landscape, and ongoing clinical trials/research
Understanding of the country medical practice and clinical decision‑making regarding patient care for diabetes
Proven leader in Medical Affairs including developing and leading the implementation of medical strategy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English
Knowledge of French language is considered a plus
Broad understanding of the international commercial and regulatory environment for medical devices
Strong scientific acumen and attention to detail
Combined strategic thinking and execution skills
Demonstrated ability to integrate, lead and influence in a challenging cross‑functional environment.
High ethical standards which apply to interactions with HCPs, payers, and industry representatives
Location: Germany, Switzerland, Austria
This role will involve frequent travel, approximately 30-40% mainly in the DACH region and within international region on occasions (conferences, medical education events, internal meetings).
