Client Service Risk Specialist - Global Energy & Materials and Advanced Industries

Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to McKinsey's Partners on optimizing client service and thought leadership while mitigating associated risks.
- Advise Partners on managing potential risks in client engagements within the Global Energy & Materials Practice (GEM) and the Advanced Industries Practice (AI), ensuring alignment with firm policies.
- Facilitate sector client and engagement risk evaluation for potential GEM and AI engagements; advise internal teams on sector risk mitigation processes.
- Lead the evaluation and triage of engagements; interface with cross-functional teams (Legal, Risk, Compliance) to ensure appropriate risk review and oversight per risk policies.
- Collaborate with sector colleagues to develop and improve risk practices and protocols; support awareness and training within sectors; develop procedures for timely and accurate record-keeping.
- Be based in one of McKinsey's US offices and serve as a core member of the North America Client Service Risk team (second line of defense).
- Work with CSR colleagues, Client Service Risk Committee members, regional/sector/domain leaders, client service partners, and colleagues in Legal, Compliance, and Communications.

Qualifications
- Must be a US applicant (due to confidentiality of reporting in role).
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 4+ years of professional experience in risk management or adjacent professional services (including risk advisory, legal, compliance, public affairs, government, government relations, audit, public relations, or consulting).
- Understanding of risks specific to GEM and AI sectors and relevant US policy and business landscape with a focus on aerospace & defense.
- Excellent analytical, judgment, problem-solving, integrity, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage complex, sensitive, and time-critical issues; comfortable handling ambiguity.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to initiate tasks independently and follow through to completion.
- Solutions-oriented, resilient, and comfortable engaging in challenging discussions with senior colleagues; able to balance robustness with diplomacy and tact.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to craft clear, concise, and pragmatic work products for internal audiences.
