Overview

Structural Engineer

Are you a skilled Structural Engineer, able to work on projects as well as enhancing our overall steelwork designs? Do you excel in managing internal and external stakeholders and reviewing their work critically? If so, apply now to join our Parcel Engineering department as a Structural Engineer!

Your position

As a Structural Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Steelwork Competence Team, responsible for ensuring optimal steelwork solutions during both the Sales and Execution phases of projects. Your role will involve collaborating with Sales and Engineering teams, other departments and external suppliers, to develop technical and commercial proposals. Given the critical importance of steelwork in all Parcel solutions, you will oversee the complete technical structural solution, ensuring it aligns with customer requirements. You will delegate work to team members and external suppliers, focusing on high-level oversight rather than detailed involvement. To maintain competitiveness, you will leverage your experience to continuously improve and optimize our processes and technical standards for steelwork solutions.

Your responsibilities
  • Design or coordinate the design of steel structures for Parcel projects.
  • Recommend technical, cost-effective steelwork solutions for Parcel projects.
  • Represent the Steelwork scope in a demanding multi-disciplinary project environment.
  • Coordinate the Steelwork designs internally and/or with external suppliers and engineering companies.
  • Estimate steel tonnages and budget the Steelwork scope.
  • Performing sanity checks on critical parts of the Steelwork scope.
  • Collect and summarize relevant technical information (e.g., local legislation, standards, codes, earthquake risk indicators, fire ratings).
  • Prepare RFQ packages for suppliers and review quotes.
  • Report on the project progress toward project leads.
  • Verify that quality of the construction meets requirements.
  • Own internal improvements to optimize processes and technical standards for the steelwork scope.
Your team

The department you will be working in focusses on the development of the parcel segment in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Furthermore, your department supports our other customer centres globally on the disciplines Engineering, Integration, and IT Engineering. To accommodate growth and future readiness, we are seeking a Structural Engineer to strengthen our team.

Your profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Entry-level or some years of experience in Structural Engineering
  • Proficiency in drawing software (AutoCAD 2D/3D, Revit) and structural analysis software (SCIA, AxisVM, Robot, Cype).
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site (up to 5% of the time).
  • Analytical, cost-aware, result-driven and efficient organizer.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Capable of switching between major topics and details.
  • Fluent in English.
Our offer

You will get the opportunity to contribute to the growth and profitability of Vanderlande Industries. An organization which has been elected as ‘Top Employer’ and ‘Best Employer’ for several years in a row and is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.

  • 22 days of vacation, a week of holidays in Easter and in Christmas, and a pack of Fridays with a reduced work schedule.
