GL Accountant

  • Professional accounting experience with 7+ years post-qualified experience
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strategic thinking and results orientation
  • Excellent communication skills in English, capable of presenting financial information to senior leadership
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Experience with financial systems and software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software; MS Dynamics experience is a bonus
  • High attention to detail with a good understanding of the big picture
  • Strong technical, automation, and analytical skills
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, team-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities
  • Business-oriented with customer service skills within a team environment
  • Experience in preparing VAT, corporate tax returns, and statutory financial statements, collaborating with tax advisors
  • Consolidation experience is a plus

Main responsibilities & tasks

  • Manage daily operations of the core accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for compliance
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements and provide insights to leadership
  • Analyze financial data and report on performance, risks, and opportunities
  • Maintain internal controls to protect assets
  • Monitor KPIs to improve financial performance
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and tax departments to align with business goals
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting
  • Manage external audit relationships
  • Coach and evaluate the accounting team
  • Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes
  • Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Lead ad-hoc projects to add value and insights
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare supporting documentation
  • Assist with onboarding acquisition accounting practices
  • Support new process and system implementations
