Job Description Summary
The EHS specialist provides day-to-day EHS support for a set of sites within a region or department, including all WTG generators, warehouses, service sites, field technicians, managers, contractors, and staff within the scope. They serve as the first contact for field service engineers managing daily EHS issues related to training, inspections, and customer interactions around planning and job execution.
Job Description
- Interpret laws, regulations, and procedures, considering all relevant local and national EHS standards.
- Prepare and review EHS documentation for products and processes.
- Ensure customer EHS requirements are followed to guarantee access for GE Vernova employees and contractors.
- Update, develop, and implement site procedures according to GE Vernova management systems and local regulations.
- Review emergency plans regularly, ensuring materials, equipment, and training are in place.
- Train personnel on laws, regulations, and procedures, and promote risk mitigation and safety improvements.
- Conduct quarterly emergency drills and verify safety equipment and procedures.
- Verify that delivered products and tools meet safety standards and document compliance.
- Support major operations with site EHS assessments.
- Perform scheduled audits, inspections, and manage regulatory agency inspections.
- Manage EHS documentation and PPE supplies.
- Support contractor mobilization and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Implement and monitor compliance with EHS applications and reporting systems.
- Represent GE Vernova in EHS working groups and community engagements.
- Support a Zero Harm culture, identify risks, and manage incidents and investigations.
- Provide EHS training, guidance, and communication to personnel and management.
- Develop and follow up on regional EHS action plans, aligning with global strategies.
- Maintain focus on strategic safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal standards.
- Liaise with stakeholders, including contractors, local authorities, and medical services.
- Advise management on unsafe acts and conditions, with regular follow-ups.
- Set and review EHS goals with site managers and support local safety initiatives.
- Serve as a coach and trainer for management teams on safety practices.
- Support regional EHS decision-making and motivate teams to assess and manage risks.
- Communicate effectively through presentations, meetings, and training sessions.
- Identify best practices and ensure risk assessments are communicated before tasks.
- Guide site managers on EHS strategies and regulatory updates, supporting performance metrics.
Qualifications
- Technical background in electricity, mechanics, or related fields.
- Master's degree in EHS or equivalent (e.g., Técnico Superior PRL).
- Physical fitness to climb wind turbines.
- Knowledge of local and regional regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web tools.
- Expert level in EHS risk assessment, audits, compliance, incident management, and management systems.
- Strong soft skills in influence, communication, resilience, and team engagement.
- Fluent in English; Spanish and Catalan skills are a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in wind operations or EHS, preferably in wind energy.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Desired Requirements
- Familiarity with HSE regulations and ISO 45001, 14001 standards.
- GWO certifications (WINDA code).
- Wind turbine technician background is advantageous.
