A British governmental organization seeks a Campaigns Officer in Madrid to enhance the UK's image, engaging with media and business stakeholders. The British Embassy in Madrid is part of a global network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas, as well as part of the UK’s Spain Network (including offices in nine locations) and is now recruiting for a Campaigns Officer position in Madrid. The Communications Team – a small team of six – aims to deliver first-class communications which supports the UK Government’s priorities, working closely with many other Embassy teams and across the network of consulates in Spain.
As the Campaigns Officer, your work will sit at the heart of the Embassy’s growth agenda, as we aim to promote the UK’s image in Spain. You will engage closely with the Embassy’s Economic and Public Policy team, as well as with the Department for Business and Trade, to support our key growth priorities such as energy, climate, life sciences, transport and science and innovation. This work is linked to two missions of the UK Government : kickstarting economic growth and making Britain a clean energy superpower. You will be empowered to set the direction for your work, using your insights and strategic communication skills to design campaigns. You will also have strong interpersonal skills to build internal and external networks, including with Spanish media, business influencers and stakeholders. You will manage the Embassy’s LinkedIn account, creating content for specific business audiences as well as more widely for the Embassy’s different communications activities, working closely with the rest of the communications team. This is a full-time, permanent contract at EO EE grade level, based in Madrid.
The successful candidate is subject to a confirmation of a background check, security clearance and the successful completion of a probationary period.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Spanish Social Security Scheme and will therefore not be entitled to any gratuity from the Embassy based on gross annual salary.
The Embassy is a Diplomatic Mission with tax exempt status and does not collect taxes for other States. Employees are fully responsible for payment of income tax at the legally required rate. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Spain are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Spanish employment law.
Visa / work permit requirements : Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Spain and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
Working patterns are 37.5 per week : 9.00am to 17 : 00pm from Monday to Friday.
Learning & Development : We offer time and financial support for the successful candidate to take advantage of professional learning and development opportunities inside and outside of the organisation. All new hires undertake a workplace induction and there are a number of mandatory e-learning courses that must be completed in order to pass probation.
