We are looking for a Global Head of Underwriting Transformation and Product Development. The role is based in Munich (Germany) and London (UK).

Allianz Commercial is a trusted partner for a wide range of tailored commercial and specialty insurance solutions designed to protect MidCorp, Specialty and LargeCorp businesses. Formerly known as “AGCS” in the market, this new franchise is Allianz Group’s integrated global model for serving the Commercial Property & Casualty insurance segment.

The Team

Directly reporting to the Chief Underwriting Officer (Board Member) and with a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will enable and lead the implementation of Allianz Commercial Underwriting Transformation strategy worldwide.Up to five team leaders report into you and you lead a wider team of 30+ experts . The scope is predominantly on topics such as Submission Intake / AI enablement, Transformation, IT Product Governance, Product Development, and is deeply engaged into the Allianz Commercial Tech Stack suite. Other key initiatives are Wording Intelligence, ESG/Reputational Risk and Business Model Platform (ITMP).

The Impact You Will Have

The role is responsible for the concept, design and demand of all Underwriting Transformation initiatives including the demand management and implementation for external vendors. It will also include significant collaboration and demand management with GDO as well as influencing co-Business Owners and Global LoB Heads, IT, Global Pricing, Claims, UWIS, Legal&Compliance. Scope of responsibilities

• You will drive the implementation and ongoing management of strategic objectives for Global Underwriting through Technology Products (~80+ platforms) and Insurance Products across all Lines of Business, ensuring that business value aligns with IT strategy related to Underwriting & Pricing.
• Coordinating and collaborating with the Allianz Commercial Board, Allianz technology and senior management on strategic priorities, functions, and geographies will ensure comprehensive alignment and execution between IT and Underwriting.
• As the owner of the Product Wording management framework, you will oversee the Product Governance and Architecture processes, ensuring alignment of Allianz Commercial products with the Allianz Product Library. Artificial Intelligence will be leveraged to help underwriting units better manage policy wordings for improved P&L control.
• Leading and managing the global Underwriting Transformation team involves activating and leveraging existing resources for cross-collaboration, while also managing the budget and focusing on the development of Allianz Commercial Technical Excellence (TEX) strategy.
• You will be responsible for proactively initiating and driving change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement by anticipating future challenges and developing innovative solutions. Contributing to creating a culture where others are empowered and act in line with shared direction is part of this responsibility.
• Building strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders across the Group and the broader industry involves working closely with CUO, CRRO and COO functions globally and regionally to foster collaboration and drive results.

Key required competencies

• We are seeking a seasoned leader who possesses strategic vision and leadership abilities to develop, communicate, and guide a clear transformation vision that aligns with the organization's overarching goals.
• You’ll have a strong global underwriting (alternatively Claims or Reinsurance) experience and understanding of P&C insurance products as well as IT and strategic transformation projects in Underwriting and beyond, with the ability to demonstrate a concrete impact on Allianz Commercial strategic ambitions.
• Expertise in change management is crucial, enabling you to effectively manage organizational change through stakeholder engagement and well-crafted communication strategies. The ability to collaborate cross-functionally is essential, as it allows you to work seamlessly across various departments and functions, ensuring alignment and fostering a collaborative environment.
• This role requires a proven track record in managing critical business scenarios across matrix organizations, including turnarounds, restructurings, and the redesign of highly complex business processes on a large scale. The successful candidate will have a history of driving complex transformation initiatives or enhancing insurance products over time, consistently delivering results.
• In addition to expertise in conflict management, particularly in arbitrage and independent decision-making, the candidate must possess strong fact-based decisiveness to resolve issues swiftly and effectively.
• Fluency in English is required, and proficiency in additional languages is advantageous. The role demands the ability to travel regionally and internationally as needed.
