Team: This team is responsible for managing the portfolio of products and services used in driver assistance and autonomous driving vehicles. The scope covers all related products in HERE’s portfolio from standard definition data for driver assistance solutions to centimeter‑accurate lane data & services for hands‑free driving. Additionally, the team will create immersive in‑car use cases and software products to highlight the benefits of driver assistance. We handle topics and processes related to the creation of new offerings, ranging from ideation, pricing, development and taking solutions into the market. To achieve this, we participate in various activities with partners and customers to capture the market needs.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Application Architecture: Design and architect robust Android applications with a primary focus on optimizing performance and minimizing memory footprint, ensuring applications run smoothly in resource‑constrained vehicle environments.
• Quality and Safety: Oversee the development process to ensure we consistently deliver high‑quality applications that prioritize driver safety. You'll establish best practices, conduct code reviews, and implement testing strategies that prevent distractions and maintain reliability.
• Technical Mentorship: Coach and develop junior developers on your team, helping them grow their technical skills, understand best practices, and contribute effectively to our projects.
• SDK Integration: Build applications leveraging the Here SDK library, implementing mapping features and location services that integrate seamlessly into vehicle dashboard systems.
• Technology Leadership: Stay informed on the latest Android development trends and technologies, particularly in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, and guide the team's technical decisions.

NOTE: This is an individual contributor role.

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of professional Android development experience.
• Proven leadership experience: Preferably in a technical lead or senior developer role with demonstrated ability to mentor and guide other developers.
• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Strong architectural thinking: Experience designing scalable, performant applications with attention to memory optimization.
• Android fundamentals: Deep understanding of Android platform architecture, lifecycle management, and system constraints.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to balance technical excellence with business requirements.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
