As the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will be a pivotal figure in ensuring the company’s risk management framework, compliance standards, and underwriting policies are robust and aligned with the expectations of our banking and lending partners. Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will oversee all aspects of compliance and risk management, including all policies required to maintain under our outsourcing agreements regarding customer onboarding, credit underwriting, and operational risk, while fostering strong partnerships with financial institutions.

1. Risk Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive risk management framework aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Develop policies that balance business growth with sound risk management principles.
2. Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including AML, KYC, GDPR, and relevant financial services regulations in Germany and the EU. Act as the primary contact for regulators and lending partners regarding compliance matters. Manage our regulatory license applications and serve as the touchpoint for all regulatory authorities.
3. Lending Partnerships: Align risk policies with the expectations and requirements of our banking and lending partners. Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure smooth collaboration and risk-sharing.
4. Policy Oversight: Ensure credit underwriting and collection policies are in line with our banking and lending partners and are properly executed. Review and optimize processes for efficiency and decision-making accuracy.
5. Leadership: Lead the Compliance & Risk Team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture. Provide training and guidance on risk and compliance best practices across the organization.
6. Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and oversee risk monitoring systems to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks. Report key risk metrics to the executive team and stakeholders.

1. Experience: 8-10+ years in risk, underwriting, and/or compliance in a senior role within a bank, lender, or fintech. Proven experience working with banking and lending partners on policy alignment and compliance.
2. Expertise: Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, credit risk, and operational risk in financial services. Familiarity with European and German financial regulations, including BaFin standards.
3. Skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills. Ability to navigate complex partnerships and negotiate effectively with financial institutions. Proficiency in risk management tools and methodologies.
4. Other Qualifications: Fluency in English; German proficiency is highly desirable. Bachelor’s degree in finance, law, business, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in risk management or compliance are a plus.
