As a Senior Data Analyst in the Size & Fit team, you will play a key role in addressing the challenge of finding the right fit in online shopping. Our mission involves gaining a deep understanding of customers’ preferences related to size and fit, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of the assortment attributes and measurements from our brands. The real magic happens when we successfully match both.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Engineering and Applied Science team and act as a bridge to Product, Business. You will measure and analyze how the solutions we provide to our customers are impacting our business, and your insights will enable strategic commercial decisions at Zalando. At Zalando, we deeply understand that Size Matters. We are excited to use our unique and large article and customer datasets to tackle this challenge using ML and Computer Vision techniques.

You will join our multidisciplinary Zurich & Berlin-based Size and Fit Team, composed of Machine Learning Researchers, Software Engineers, Designers, Product and Business Managers from 30+ different nationalities. We provide advice on customer size and fit choices and conduct focused experiments using emerging technologies to solve the challenges.

You will take on this complex and important topic working side by side with our Product Specialists and Applied Scientists. We have great problems to solve, a huge customer base to impact, and we are a team that loves to have fun. 'Size and Fit' is a human topic. We use machines to help solve our customers’ challenges. But we never forget—size and fit success is defined by how customers feel when they wear fashion.

• Bring your business data-driven analytical approach to the Size & Fit Team; you generate hypotheses and test them by performing descriptive, exploratory and quantitative analyses. Translate metrics from algorithmic and data products into actionable business insights. Recognize when a hypothesis requires experimentation and help create and drive them.
• Act as the connector between the Engineering team and the Product team. Translate the Size and Fit benefits to answer complex business questions and identify and measure commercial opportunities.
• Be a reliable partner for the Size & Fit Team in commercial reporting and analytics, and support the team with more complex analysis.
• Avoid silos by collaborating with cross-functional leaders from Engineering, Applied Science, Product, Content and Customer Analytics to drive innovation. Incorporate data from sources within and outside of Zalando to drive projects.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar role. Hold a university degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative social science, or a comparable subject.
• Have a strong technical background with advanced SQL skills and programming experience, including Python, Spark, and Google BigQuery. Excellent knowledge in coding for data retrieval, processing, exploration and analysis. Maintain a constant drive to learn new techniques and tools.
• Understand the economics of online platforms and/or online fashion retailers, as well as the commercial KPIs governing their success.
• Communicate effectively to convince technical and non-technical audiences with the insights you generate and provide compelling data-driven storytelling that enables decision-making.
• Enjoy cross-functional collaboration and possess stakeholder management skills to work with different levels of management to support, challenge, and bring solutions.
• Have a hands-on mentality, be proactive, adapt quickly to changes, and stay focused on quality objectives.
