As a Biomedical Technician with Fresenius Medical Care, you will maintain and repair medical and water treatment equipment within our kidney care clinics. You will also train and educate colleagues on operational maintenance of our dialysis machines to ensure the safety of our dialysis patients, as well as manage the medical supplies required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair dialysis equipment, ancillary equipment, and water treatment systems.
  2. Maintain the physical plant as directed.
  3. Ensure outside vendor services are completed per contract.
  4. Purchase and manage inventory of service parts.
  5. Perform water/dialysate sample collection, evaluation, and reporting.
  6. Conduct trend analysis on water systems regularly.
  7. Document all repairs and maintenance activities.
  8. Assist in planning and installing biomedical equipment for safe operation.
  9. Transport equipment as needed with supervisor consent.
  10. Participate in technical and regulatory meetings monthly.
  11. Collaborate to meet regulatory and OSHA requirements.
  12. Manage inventory, including receiving, delivery, and cost management.
  13. Verify and monitor water testing procedures for patient care staff.
  14. Complete all required technical training programs.
  15. Provide after-hours technical on-call coverage as needed.

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree in electronics/biomedical technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Successful completion of Fresenius Biomedical Technician training within 24 months of hire required for continued employment.

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Qualities: collaborative, independent, analytical, mechanical, self-motivated, eager to learn.
  • Less than 1-year related experience preferred.
  • Experience in mechanical, automotive, construction, dialysis, or medical technical settings preferred.
  • Manual dexterity for using tools and small equipment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and move large equipment safely.

Ability to create a safe, efficient work environment following OSHA standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must pass Ishihara Color Blindness test; accommodations considered if failed.
  • Active work involving lifting, bending, walking, standing.
  • Use of equipment for heavy items; lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, infectious materials, high voltage; PPE provided.
  • Work environment varies; may include outdoor work.
  • Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
