Accountability Objective
Under the direction of the General Manager, responsible for the health and wellness of residents in accordance with the philosophy, objectives, and standards of Verve Senior Living.
Background/Qualifications
- Recognized nursing license (LPN licensing) and must be in good standing.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership skills (e.g., Diversicare/Verve Senior Living Competencies).
- Written and verbal fluency in English required.
- Proficient computer skills (Word and Excel).
- Experience working within a union setting preferred.
- Preference given to individuals with 2 or more years of experience working with seniors.
- A resident-oriented individual whose values align with those of Diversicare.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) program.
- Complete pre-move-in and ongoing assessments of residents’ health and wellness needs, making recommendations to appropriate departments or the General Manager.
- Ensure the resident’s file is established with proper documentation and safe medication administration practices.
- Organize a care plan to promote resident independence based on legislation (e.g., RHRA).
- Update residents’ care plans every 6 months or as required.
- Recruit, interview, and select new employees; serve as a leader and develop staff to meet service and standard goals; conduct annual performance reviews and manage scheduling.
- Hold regular department meetings to communicate updates and policies.
- Contribute to the preparation of budgets and variance reports.
- Manage department finances, including inventory and purchasing; review and promote revenue-generating initiatives; approve invoices.
- Comply with health and safety legislation, recognize hazards, report incidents, participate in in-services and fire drills, and implement infection control protocols.
- Adhere to corporate policies and procedures, providing recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in operations meetings and complete mandatory training.
- Build relationships with residents, families, hospitals, and government agencies to promote wellness outcomes.
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to raise awareness of services.
- Perform other tasks as delegated by the General Manager.
