Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Lakes District Hospital.

Reporting to the Program Lead or Designate and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention. The LPN assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Northern Health (NH) and established protocols. Participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing, and evaluating interventions, documenting information, and acting as an advocate for patients/residents. Participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences and assists with orientation of new staff and students as required. Responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed.

Shift Rotation / Hours

Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

About the Location

The Lakes District Hospital is a 16-bed facility that sees an average of 12,000 ER visits per year. The services include: Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Rehabilitation Services, Palliative Care, Acute Care, Public Health, Home and Community Care.

Burns Lake is located in the heart of the Lakes District, an area boasting over 4800 kilometers of lake shoreline. The village has a diverse population of 2,000 residents and serves a surrounding area of approximately 13,000 residents of the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako. Housing in Burns Lake is very affordable, including lakefront property. There are multiple schools and a College campus in the area. It is centrally located between Smithers (1.5 hrs) and Prince George (2.5 hours) with access to airports; VIA Rail serves Burns Lake year round. The small community offers outdoor activities and scenic surroundings.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing LPN registrant. Current basic cardiac life support certification.
