Job summary

A compassionate nursing home is seeking a Casual Licensed Practical Nurse in Sussex to provide resident-centered care. Your role will include assessing health conditions, assisting with daily living activities, and collaborating with a care team. Candidates must be registered with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses, possess good communication skills, and be capable of working flexible shifts. New graduates are welcomed to apply.

Qualifications

Kiwanis Nursing Home is looking for Casual Licensed Practical Nurses!

Kiwanis Nursing Home is a compassionate, resident-centered nursing home dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a supportive, home-like environment. By joining us, you will be joining approximately 150 other caring and amazing staff members in our 100-bed home in Sussex.

We currently have vacancies for Casual LPNs (no guaranteed hours).

Our LPN Team Leads are an integral part of our care team, and are responsible for the personal care and well‑being of our nursing home residents. We are looking for energetic and keen LPN's who are registered with ANBLPN. New grads welcome!

Responsibilities
  • Assessing, monitoring, and documenting resident's health conditions and behavior's, and evaluating safety needs in collaboration with the Case Manager and the care team;
  • Performing wound/skin assessments and initiating appropriate treatment in collaboration with the Case Manager;
  • Providing assistance to residents in activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, meals, exercises, etc.;
  • Administering medications as required;
  • Providing guidance and direction to other members of the care team;
  • Other related activities within the established scope of practice standards, and as requested by the Case Manager or Director of Nursing.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus, successful completion of a two-year Practical Nurse program through NBCC or equivalent;
  • Current registration with the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses;
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to use these skills with residents, their families, visitors and other team members;
  • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team;
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to other care team members;
  • Physically capable of performing assigned duties;
  • Valid CPR Certification;
  • Flexibility to work all types of shifts (days, evenings, nights) and on a call‑in basis;
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a medical check, vulnerable sector check, and Department of Social Development background check as a condition of employment.
