About the Role :
The responsibilities of a Gas / Maintenance Technician include servicing, inspecting, and repairing boilers installed for clients. The technician makes recommendations for boiler spare parts, tests, samples, and repairs water, chemical, and water treatment equipment. The role involves 24-hour on-call duties on a rotation basis, providing support via phone and email to customers. The technician reports to the Assistant Manager for administrative tasks and to the Field Supervisor for field activities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Travel to customer locations to identify boiler and water treatment equipment failures or issues. Perform repairs, servicing, or replacements as necessary using tools such as wrenches, hand tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters.
- Conduct regular inspections on boilers and water treatment equipment per the Inspection Report Form, utilizing appropriate tools.
- Troubleshoot control panel problems and wiring issues, repairing or replacing components as needed, using multimeters and simulators.
- Collect water samples from customers' Miura steam systems for analysis.
- Perform basic water treatment testing and report conditions to clients.
- Communicate with customers via phone, email, or in person to resolve complaints.
- Assess and identify scale and corrosion problems in boilers.
- Evaluate steam and hot water distribution systems to make safe and appropriate recommendations.
- Maintain parts inventory in stock rooms and vehicles, notifying the company when parts need to be ordered.
- Start up boilers and related equipment for new or retrofit installations, monitoring operations to ensure proper functioning and resolving issues.
- Adhere to all company policies, including health and safety, HR, and others applicable to the role.
- Complete administrative duties such as timesheets, work orders, emails, mileage tracking, expenses, and quotes.
- Care for and organize company tools and equipment.
- Perform countermeasures as required.
- Visit customers to collect information and promote monitoring equipment, chemical, and maintenance contracts for preventative maintenance.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements :
- Proven field service experience
- Technical degree or certification
- TSSA G1 Gas license for Ontario (Must Have)
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, and service technical equipment
- English literacy
- Flexibility to work shifts and adapt to changing schedules
- Familiarity with mobile tools and applications
Physical activities include climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials, and operating machinery and vehicles. Standing for long periods is also required.
