Under the direction of the Manager or designate and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse, Full Scope performs assessments, plans and provides personal care, and performs nursing procedures. The LPN operates within the competency guidelines and full scope of practice as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives, and according to agency policies and protocols.

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN.
• Perinatal positions require either (a) completion of a perinatal education and breastfeeding course, or (b) one year of recent acute perinatal experience within the last 2 years. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within the past 2 years is also required.
• MHSU positions require additional education as outlined by BCCNM for practice involving Mental Health and/or Substance Use disorders.

• Effective verbal and written communication with residents, families, co-workers, multidisciplinary team members, and the public.
• Ability to deal effectively with others.
• Organizational skills to plan and implement care.
• Knowledge and competency to work at full scope of practice, including administering medications.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to perform duties.
