Job summary

A leading industrial gases company is seeking a Railcar Loader for a 12-month contract in Sarnia, ON. You will be responsible for unloading CO2, ensuring safety and compliance, and performing physical tasks outdoors. Ideal candidates should have warehouse experience, be physically fit, and possess strong interpersonal skills. This position offers the opportunity for on-call and overtime shifts.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds continuously.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and WHMIS Training are assets.

Responsibilities

  • Load/unload rail cars following safety standards.
  • Inspect and secure rail cars before loading/unloading.
  • Perform batch testing of the plant storage tanks.

Position

Railcar Loader (Casual, 12 month contract) - Sarnia, ON

This position is responsible for a variety of duties, primarily unloading CO2 from railcars to the plant storage facility and loading CO2 to the railcars from the plant storage facility. The loader will also be responsible for receiving and preparing the shipment for transport in PALS and completing the appropriate documents and checklist.

Responsibilities
  • Load/unload rail car per Linde Safety Standards and Procedures
  • Ensure that the product received is compliant with the product specifications, seals and documents matches the railcar waybill
  • Receive and release rail cars in PALS system
  • Visually inspect and secure the rail cars
  • Ensure everything is mechanically sound and there is no defective equipment before loading or unloading.
  • Perform batch testing of the plant storage tanks after every unloading
  • Communicate with management on any problems as they occur
  • Communicate with Logistics on the railcar unloading schedules
  • Communicate with local rail company on the delivery and railcar switch schedules
  • General labour and housekeeping as required
Qualifications
  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a warehouse environment and intensive labour role
  • Ability and willingness to work Monday- Friday, on-call shifts, weekends, holidays and potential overtime as required
  • Must be physically fit and be able to lift up to 60 pounds continuously and repetitively. Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to climb up and down railcar rail bay stairs and stop/kneel/crouch/crawl repetitively
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and basic computer knowledge
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) Training would be an asset
  • Great interpersonal skills
