Job description

We’re hiring an experienced engineering technologist who loves CAD structure, documentation discipline, BOM accuracy, and ERP integration (not conceptual design).

This is an ownership role for a high performing technologist, who will be the backbone of engineering operations. It is not a junior technologist role, drafting role, or a support role for a P.Eng. You will own your domain independently, make critical decisions, and be responsible for the technical data that powers our entire production system.

About Yama Vans

Yama Vans builds high end off grid adventure vehicles, engineered and manufactured in Calgary. We’re a fast growing company with a strong culture of collaboration, humility, and continuous improvement.

This role sits at the core of our engineering foundation - integrating CAD, documentation, and ERP systems to support scale and reliability.

Core Responsibilities
  • Own CAD (Solidworks) → BOM → ERP integration
  • Build and maintain accurate, complete, production ready BOMs
  • Create, clean, and structure CAD models and assemblies in Solidworks
  • Deliver production ready drawings, documentation, and CNC files
  • Maintain strict version control and documentation discipline
  • Establish and enforce naming conventions, taxonomy, and organizational standards
  • Ensure alignment of engineering data with Supply Chain, Production, and Service
  • Communicate and release engineering changes to production
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing designs

Who You Are

You’re a systems minded, execution driven mechanical professional who values precision, structure, and operational clarity. You don't consider yourself a visionary designer, but you enjoy being the person who keeps engineering data airtight and integrated with the rest of the business.

Requirements
  • 5+ years in mechanical design, manufacturing, product engineering, or engineering operations
  • Strong SolidWorks experience (parts, assemblies, drawings)
  • Deep experience with BOM management, documentation, and revision control
  • Experience with ERP and PDM systems (any system)
  • High personal standards for data organization and accuracy
  • Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to independently own technical documentation end-to-end

Candidates with strong experience in mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or engineering operations are encouraged to apply.

Why Join Yama Vans?
  • Be part of a small company with a very strong, collaborative culture
  • Work on premium products within the adventure vehicle space
  • Take ownership, and have real autonomy and influence
  • Create meaningful impact in our operations as we grow
  • Competitive compensation based on experience (technologist or engineer level)
  • A driven team committed to operational excellence and building a world class product
