Reporting to the Production Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will develop and prove manufacturing processes aligned with production demands and product development requirements. The role focuses on building cost‑effective, repeatable, and standardized manufacturing approaches for Babbitt bearings and related industrial products.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for:
- Developing and proving manufacturing processes that meet production and product development targets.
- Creating 3‑D models, 2‑D drawings, parametric fixture & tool designs, and manufacturing instructions.
- Contributing to continuous improvement and quality achievement across the organization.
- Working with Sales, Technical Advisors, Production, and Quality personnel to integrate engineering changes.
- Preparing project schedules, timelines, and cost estimates.
- Maintaining awareness of business context, profitability, and budgetary control.
Manufacturing Engineering Includes
- Development of standardized, cost‑effective manufacturing processes and costs
- Process proving and feature‑based manufacturing
- Technical interpretation and manufacturing process development to meet lead‑time and cost parameters
- Quality process integration and production of standardized work instructions
- Tool and fixture selection, design, and supply
- Process troubleshooting and technical support
- Engineering change control and integration with product development
Experience & Knowledge
- B.Sc. degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering or equivalent experience
- 1‑3 years of experience in a similar manufacturing role
- Previous machining process experience (preferred)
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience with ERP systems and data analysis (asset)
- Ability to review and analyze technical documentation
- Communication skills for managing customers and suppliers internally and externally
Physical Demands and Environment
The position requires exposure to both customer facilities and production environments that contain noise, dust, and fumes.
