Job description
Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Manufacturing and Estimating Engineer to join our team. This role combines expertise in both the manufacturing processes and cost estimation to ensure the successful planning, design, and execution of our production processes. You will be responsible for estimating project costs, analyzing production capabilities, and ensuring that products are manufactured efficiently and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, cost modeling, and materials management.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing Process Design: Creating and maintaining product BOMs, provide machine sourcing with digitize input and cutting instructions; participate in reviews of the design, materials, and manufacturing process capability and conformance of new or existing products that have been revised; provide advisory support to other departments on quotation, BOM, material specification, tooling and ECN; draft process ideas to reduce costs and improve production rates; complete documents to show and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and protocols; develop, analyze and enhance manufacturing methods to assist production requirements; document operational procedures and maintain records of all process analysis and results; search for best practices and innovative solutions to improve production and quality rates.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for manufacturing projects by analyzing material costs, labor requirements, machine time, and overheads; create detailed cost models to support project bids, ensuring profitability and competitiveness; work with procurement and engineering teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining quality.
  • Production Planning and Scheduling: Assist in developing production schedules and timelines, ensuring on-time delivery of projects; coordinate with production teams to monitor progress and resolve any production-related issues.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and design teams to ensure alignment between project specifications, production capabilities, and cost goals; liaise with suppliers and vendors to gather material costs and lead times for accurate estimates.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze historical data, market trends, and production performance to inform cost estimates and manufacturing decisions; prepare and present reports on estimated costs, production status, and potential risks to senior management.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality standards; participate in quality control audits and resolve any non-conformities that may arise during production.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements in manufacturing methods, estimating accuracy, and cost-saving measures; stay updated with industry best practices, new technologies, and trends in manufacturing and cost estimation.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications or Training: in estimating, project management, or lean manufacturing are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, cost estimating, or related fields; hands-on experience in manufacturing environments, preferably in Foam and Adhesives.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and manufacturing simulation tools; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for material planning, inventory management, and cost estimation; strong analytical skills and experience with cost estimation software or Excel-based modeling.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail; strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and departments; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, production systems, and lean manufacturing principles; knowledge of cost estimation techniques, including material cost analysis, labor rates, and machine time calculations.
