- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments.
- Advise patients on health care strategies.
- Counsel patients and families on health and lifestyle issues.

- College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP)
- Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
- Eligible for professional liability insurance
