Position Summary :
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance, the Regulatory Compliance Manager will oversee Haventree Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) framework. The role involves enhancing policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry codes of conduct.
Major Duties & Responsibilities :
- Design, implement, and maintain regulatory risk and control assessment methodologies.
- Update and administer Regulatory Compliance Management systems.
- Coordinate reviews and obtain sign-offs from business units on compliance matters.
- Disseminate information on new or amended regulatory requirements to relevant teams.
- Conduct regulatory/legal research and stay current on relevant developments and best practices.
- Advise the business on policies and systems for identifying and escalating potential breaches.
- Review controls to ensure regulatory compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor and track the completion of corrective action plans.
- Assist in preparing the Regulatory Change Management documentation.
- Support special projects or investigations as needed.
- Participate in annual reviews, including RCM self-assessment and policy updates.
- Develop and deliver compliance training to staff.
- Provide compliance advisory support and act as a controls subject matter expert.
- Monitor compliance operationalization in response to regulatory changes.
- Review legislative updates and assess their impact.
- Receive and evaluate reports on compliance issues from other departments.
Qualifications & Experience :
Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications :
- University degree in law, business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Required :
- 4-5 years in financial services or retail banking, preferably in compliance, audit, or internal control roles.
- Experience in a federally regulated financial institution is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian laws, especially related to Trust and Loans Companies, the Bank Act, and guidelines from OSFI, FINTRAC, CDIC, and FCAC.
- Knowledge of FATCA / CRS reporting is an asset.
- Understanding of compliance fundamentals related to deposit-taking and mortgage products.
- Experience developing and implementing compliance policies and programs.
- Proven success in managing regulatory compliance projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Professional skepticism and curiosity in approach.
- Experience with GRC systems like Resolver, Refinitiv, etc.
