About the Opportunity

SteS is looking for a full‑time Community Health Nurse based in Chase, British Columbia.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Wellness, you will play a pivotal role in delivering culturally grounded public health services and supporting the well‑being of individuals and families across the community.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for providing health promotion, disease prevention, outreach, and community wellness programming as part of a growing and progressive Wellness team.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Planning and delivering population health and wellness programs for all life stages
  • Providing home and community outreach to assess needs and strengthen trusted relationships
  • Leading immunizations, disease prevention activities, and communicable disease response
  • Supporting mental health, addictions, and harm reduction using trauma‑informed practice
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to coordinate community‑driven care
  • Assisting with emergency readiness, environmental health concerns, and public health response
  • Maintaining accurate health records, reports, and data to guide program planning
  • Participating in community events, wellness initiatives, and interdisciplinary team activities

About You

To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized Canadian institution or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. You will also bring 3+ years of experience in a community, public health, or clinical nursing role, ideally within an Indigenous or rural setting, and be registered and in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.

The following are required:

  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to undergo a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the community for home visits and outreach
  • CPR Level C certification, or the ability to obtain it upon hire

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience working with First Nations communities or Indigenous organizations
  • Confidence delivering community‑based health promotion and wellness programs
  • Knowledge of communicable disease control and immunization protocols
  • Familiarity with trauma‑informed practice and harm reduction
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary health teams
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical documentation
  • Capacity to adapt to changing resources and program needs
  • Strong relationship‑building skills through community outreach and home visits
