New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking an experienced IT Technician to provide IT services on an on-call and vacation backfill basis at a mining site near Edmonton, Alberta. This position is ideal for a freelance contractor who already supports multiple clients and is available to provide services on an as-needed basis. The role requires a well-rounded technical professional with strong skills in Cisco networking, Windows workstation support, wireless technologies, and end-user service delivery.

The successful candidate will receive paid training and regular updates to stay current with the client’s IT systems and support processes.

Responsibilities:

• Provide onsite IT support services at a mine site when backup or additional support is required.
• Troubleshoot and maintain Cisco networking equipment and infrastructure.
• Support end-user workstations, servers and applications software in a Windows environment.
• Assist with wireless service setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Respond to service tickets and requests in a timely and effective manner.
• Maintain documentation of incidents and solutions following team protocols.
• Collaborate with the remote IT team for escalation or complex issues.

Requirements:

• Diploma in computer technology or a related IT field (minimum).
• At least 2 years of experience in an IT Technician or similar support role.
• Proven ability to work independently and adapt to varying site needs.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco networking systems (routers, switches).
• Proficient in supporting Windows workstation and server operating systems.
• Experience with wireless service technologies and troubleshooting.
• Availability for on-call or scheduled backup work as needed.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
