A prominent philanthropy organization in Alberta seeks an Associate General Counsel to provide legal counsel on contracts, grantmaking, and tax issues. The role involves drafting agreements, conducting research, and ensuring compliance with laws pertaining to tax-exempt organizations. Candidates should hold a J.D. and possess five to seven years of legal experience, including tax law. The position offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 to $175,000 plus an annual discretionary bonus.

The Associate General Counsel will report to the Deputy General Counsel and will support NPT’s mission by advising on contracts, grantmaking, nonprofit tax, complex gifts, communications, and organizational policy issues. The Associate General Counsel assists in protecting NPT’s legal interest and maintaining operations within the scope of established laws and governance. This role provides hands‑on counsel to all levels of management and staff within the organization and performs research in support of legal advice or opinion.
Salary range is $160,000 - $175,000 plus 21% annual discretionary bonus.
