Appointment without Term Lecturer : Department of Sociology

Applications are being accepted from qualified individuals for a full-time Appointment without Term position at the Lecturer rank , in the Department of Sociology, effective July 1, 2025 (the anticipated start date).

Particulars of the Position : The Department has teaching needs in courses required by students in our undergraduate programs. These include introductory sociology, sociological theory, and research methods in addition to other courses as required. Substantive areas of teaching expertise and experience are open.

Successful applicants may also be responsible for developing new courses in their areas of teaching interest. Successful applicants will be responsible for participating and providing leadership in relevant committee work and administrative matters related to the Department’s undergraduate program and curriculum development, delivery, evaluation, and renewal.

The full-time Appointment without Term lecturer will have a workload (combination of teaching and administrative duties) of 30 credit units per year. Appointments without Term faculty are eligible for a one-time only three-year graduated teaching load of six (6) – three (3) credit unit courses in year 1; seven (7) – three (3) credit unit course in year 2; and eight (8) – three (3) credit unit courses in year 3. Courses are taught over the Fall, Winter, and Spring / Summer terms.

The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer based on the successful candidate’s qualifications. Candidates must have a completed Doctoral Degree in Sociology.

The salary bands for this position for the 2025-2026 academic year are :

Lecturer : $83,150 to $123,458

salary bands are based on the 2022-23 salary scales)
