Volunteer Driver

Our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to provide transportation to children and youth in the care of Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions. The role is an ongoing opportunity, open to parents or guardians who meet the requirements below.

Responsibilities
  • Drive children/youth to appointments or activities using your own vehicle.
  • Assist children/youth in getting in and out of the vehicle safely.
  • Escort children/youth to and from the appointment or activity, ensuring their well‑being.
  • Pick up children/youth at the appointed place and time.
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Access to a road‑worthy vehicle and minimum $1 million liability insurance.
  • Ability to provide physical support (lifting) for children, youth, or adults as needed.
  • Patience, understanding, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Knowledge of the local community.
  • Access to a computer with internet and camera for mileage submission.
  • Valid cell phone; cell plan that allows free calls.
  • Completed background check (police records check) free of charges or convictions, including vulnerable populations.
  • Completed agency car seat training.
  • Access to a laptop with internet for reporting.
