Job description
Your Opportunity

Unit 2 at the Alberta Children’s Hospital is a 26-bed combined medical/surgical unit. We have 8 hour and 12 hour shifts and a RN/LPN staff mix of approximately 70% RN and 30% LPN. We care for patients who have conditions pertaining to three primary areas: cardiac, respiratory, and infant GI surgery. We are a high‑intensity, fast‑paced unit with a patient population that has very complex medical conditions. Our patients typically have multiple organ systems involved, are primarily under 2 years of age, and have very long hospital admissions with frequent re‑admissions. Many of our patients require higher technology to support their care, which may include a tracheostomy, +/- a ventilator, CPAP/BiPAP machines, NP tubes, chest tubes, high‑flow oxygen therapy, and cardiorespiratory monitoring. The majority of patients have central venous catheters, PICC lines, TPN, and a variety of tubes: gastrostomy, nasogastric, nasojejunial, gastrojejunial. Colostomies, ileostomies, and VAC wound dressings are also common.

Description
