We are dedicated to serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and providing comprehensive emergency and long-term services to help them escape the dangerous streets of Skid Row. Established in 1891, URM is now one of the largest rescue missions of its kind in the United States and the oldest in Los Angeles. POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Procurement and Logistics, the Transportation Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of the transportation operations within the mission. Their goal is to ensure goods and passengers are moved efficiently, safely, and cost effectively with legal and company standards.

TRANSPORTATION MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Attend management and department meetings.
  • Manage the logistics of transportation related activities to ensure all policies, procedures and safety rules are followed.
  • Manage the maintenance and repairs on all vehicles, keeping accurate maintenance history for our records.
  • Ensures the transportation department adheres to all State and Federal regulatory compliance and laws.
  • Manage the scheduling and dispatching for daily pick-ups, program, and staff transportation needs.
  • Communicate with other departments regarding transportation issues and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Train and manage staff, apprentices, and program drivers with their daily functions to make sure their tasks are completed.
  • Ensure all vehicles are presentable and well kept.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed for the annual CHP inspections.
  • Organize safety training certification for drivers.
  • Manage the employee shuttle schedule, updating as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Procurement and Logistics.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 5+ year(s) related experience in driving commercial vehicles.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to be added to company insurance policy.
