Job description
Overview

SMS Equipment is growing! We are looking for Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our team. In this role you will find solutions, make safety a priority and work with the largest, most advanced earthmoving equipment. You will be at the forefront helping to keep those machines, and the industry they service, moving! This role is located in Chicoutimi. The shift for this role is 5x2.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze breakdowns and failures, assess the nature of the repairs, with a view to carrying out repairs where necessary.
  • Produce a clear and complete repair report, finding the cause of failure for each problem encountered.
  • Order parts required for repairs.
  • Adjust, repair and / or replace defective parts using hand or power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure that it works and that repairs comply with manufacturer requirements.
  • Clean, lubricate equipment and perform routine maintenance.
  • Respect established repair times.
  • Notify immediate supervisor and / or customer of all repairs required on units.
  • Work in a safe manner.
  • Clean work area and maintain shop equipment in good condition.
  • Follow Service Department policies and procedures.
  • Attend training sessions as required.
  • When work is completed, sign work order to authorize billing, credit unused parts and assemble all required documents: external purchase, etc., and forward to supervisor.
  • Assemble machines as required.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Must always evaluate the impact of discussions with customers on the performance of products sold by SMS Equipment.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a Heavy Equipment Technician Certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
