Primary Focus

Primary Focus

Coordinates the procurement and purchasing functions, within Terra Foods, ensuring optimal flow of inventory for return on investment, while meeting customer and organizational objectives.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Facilitate the seamless on time arrival of products in line with sales and customer demand.
  • Synchronizing supply to sales forecasted demands:
    • Work with Sales Team to understand sales forecast data
    • Understand marketing projections and analyze order spikes
    • Align with supply with sales forecasts on a 52-week schedule
    • Analyze and adapt to forecast reviews with Sales Team
    • Measure and review supply vs forecast performance
  • Evaluate the in-stock and aggregate inventory positions daily to formulate purchasing needs. Inventory: value / flow / availability / space management/ code date requirements.
  • Preparing monthly rolling forecasts: from 3 month to 24-month time ranges.
  • Purchasing P&L, inventory turns and value – CoGS in-stock, in transit, in pipeline, in future.
  • Synchronizing Terra Foods orders with supplier production schedules.
  • Formulating purchase orders to optimize shipment/PO sizes/ minimize freight costs.
  • Evaluating transport costs for best cost/service results/ coordinate freight for inbound.
  • Manage inventory records to be input into software and ensure inventory management controls are adhered to. Prepare & report inventory adjustments.
  • Assemble required information to update new and changed products.
  • Function as liaison with suppliers, freight forwarders, transport companies, and customs broker on all inbound shipments.
  • Practice good importing practices as governed by CFIA.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested.
  • Be a positive team member within Terra Foods, customer and supplier community.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Analytical mind and a strong business acumen.
  • The ability to maintain various reporting systems to ensure that documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Use initiative and judgment in investigating and resolving purchasing discrepancies.
  • Work efficiently under pressure and stay motivated to meet requirements.
  • Five + years of purchasing experience /or completion of Post-Secondary Supply Chain Management or Procurement Program or BSc/BA in Logistics, Business Analytics Mathematics
  • Strong MS Office Suite experience, particularly excel including pivot table and vlookups
  • CPIM/CSCP a plus
  • High attention to detail& proven critical thinking skills
