Supervisor Treatment Team Lead

Location: Vancouver, BC

Reports To: Hospital Manager, Medical Directors

Job Summary

The role of the Supervisor Treatment Team Lead will support, lead and direct a team of RVTs, VTs, TAs, and volunteers in a professional, supportive and kind manner while recognizing the responsibilities involved in responding to client and coworker questions. The Team Leader will also work closely with the hospital’s leadership team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously strive for the betterment of our people and the hospital as a whole. The Team Leader will work full-time (40 hours / week), working closely with the hospital’s Leadership Team to promote a positive hospital image and continuously work towards the betterment of our people and the hospital as a whole.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures all new staff members receive orientation and adequate training. Regularly check in with new staff members with regard to training and performance management with documentation.
  • Provides support, coaching / mentoring and motivation to all team members by being present on the floor for various shifts and checking in with DVMs on duty regularly.
  • Creates an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
  • Leverages the strength of the collective treatment team to grow and develop one another, building a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Recognizes limitations of team or individual members and assess what can be done to resolve the situation proactively.
  • Recognizes conflict within the team and attempts to resolve it in a timely manner. Submits incident reports regarding such conflict when appropriate.
  • Produces schedule (Legion) and ensures an equal / fair rotation for all treatment associates. Reduces overtime through effective scheduling.
  • Coordinates vacation coverage to ensure all shifts are adequately staffed and works closely with the Leadership Team to ensure appropriate coverage. Coordinates relief coverage as necessary.
  • Assists with interviewing and hiring new staff members for the team. Follows through with the onboarding process for new team members.
  • Assigns time to administrative duties in partnership with the Hospital Manager.
  • Attends Leadership meetings and contributes feedback and solutions while ensuring complete confidentiality.
  • Listens to team members’ ideas and concerns and leads with empathy. Acts as a mediator and advocate.
  • Assists with conducting performance reviews for team members and gathering feedback from other hospital staff members. Implements appropriate development plans with documentation.
  • Assists with Coach & Connect sessions with each team member quarterly or on an as-needed basis.
  • Assists with planning regular continuing education events for the team to be held in conjunction with regular meetings or social events whenever possible.
  • Update training manuals as necessary. Revise protocols, assign responsibilities to team members and recognize inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
  • Manage payroll timesheets (WorkDay) for team members.
  • Attends weekly Staff Meetings and prepares departmental breakout sessions when needed.
