Qualifications

Staff Accountant - General Ledger

The Staff Accountant - General Ledger will have an emphasis on all general ledger aspects of accounting such as preparing & posting journal entries, recurring entries and reconciliations of trial balance/GL accounts and fixed asset maintenance. This position will also leverage large data sets to support reconciliations and journal entries for both existing PeopleSoft ERP as well as working with new D365 F&O ERP system. As London Drugs transitions from PeopleSoft to D365 F&O, this role will be involved with business process design for general ledger transactions, data validation upon migration, testing within D365 and other associated migration activities.


Key responsibilities include:

ERP Migration & Planning:

  1. Conduct data validation to ensure accuracy and completion of the migration process.
  2. Participate in testing activities of financial functionalities to identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  3. Provide training & support for functionalities and workflows within D365 F&O.
  4. Analyze & participate in existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to leverage the full capabilities of D365 F&O.
  5. Maintain documentation of ERP data migration validation, testing results, and training materials.

Existing Accounting Process Support:

  1. Participate in month end, quarter end and year end closing activities such as posting journal entries for accruals, prepaid amortization and fixed assets.
  2. Leverage data to conduct monthly variance analysis for expenses, income, and changes in balance sheet balances.
  3. Review operating vs capital expense items in accordance with our accounting policies and prepare and post necessary adjustments.
  4. Update and reconcile prepaid and accrual schedules regularly to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  5. Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register, including additions and disposals.
  6. Address audit inquiries and prepare working papers to support mid-year and year-end audits.

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting
  2. 3+ years of experience in a high volume transactional accounting role with an emphasis on reconciliations and journal entries.
  3. Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of ASPE.
  4. D365 F&O or AX or related Dynamics experience is preferred.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Suite of products.
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  8. Effective communication skills to liaise with cross-functional teams and auditors.
