Key Responsibilities
- The Staff Accountant supports day to day accounting activities while contributing to accurate financial records, timely close processes, and compliance controls. This role partners closely with internal teams to ensure transactions are properly reviewed, recorded and reconciled, and plays a key role in maintaining financial integrity across accounts payable, expense reporting, payroll support and general ledger activities. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, collaborative and comfortable working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Support transactional accounting activities, including review, validation, and processing of vendor, subcontractor, and employee related expenditures in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure accurate general ledger coding and cost center allocation for financial transactions.
- Perform account reconciliations, including bank accounts and corporate credit cards, and investigate variances as needed.
- Coordinate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies, obtain supporting documentation, and ensure timely processing.
- Review and reconcile employee expense reports for accuracy and compliance with company and regulatory requirements, including DCAA standards.
- Monitor outstanding liabilities and support accounts payable aging analysis and rolling cash flow forecasting.
- Assist with payroll processing activities, including validation of inputs and reconciliation of payroll data across financial systems.
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized and audit ready financial records in accordance with internal controls and retention policies.
- Support compliance initiatives, including assistance with IRS Form 1099 preparation and filings.
- Participate in continuous improvement of accounting processes, controls, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university.
- 4-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- 4 or more years of experience supporting accounting operations within a mid-size or larger organization withminimum annual revenues or financial activity of $50M or more.
- 4 years minimum of general accounting experience, including general ledger support, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- 4-5 years minimum of experience supporting transactional accounting operations, including vendor invoices, expense reporting, and payroll coordination.
- 3 years minimum of experience using Unanetor similar accounting software.
- 3 years minimum of experience working with payroll systems such as Paycor.
- 4 years minimum of experience supporting month end close and financial reporting activities.
- 4 years minimum years of experience performing account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts.
- 4 years of professional experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel.
- 3 years minimum of practical hands-on experience applying DCAA,GAAP and internal control principles.
- 3-5 years minimum years of experience managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
