Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Operating Room department at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator of the Operating Room, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital mission statement.

Training & Education
  • Two training positions available for 2025/2026.
  • Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements.
  • Commitment to a 4-6 month education program that includes online and in-person learning.
  • Flexibility for practicums is necessary.
  • Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the department.
  • Upon successful completion, a 18-month return of service in a regular nursing position applicable to the education program is required.
  • Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions; otherwise training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants.
Shift Rotation & Hours of Work
  • Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00
Qualifications
  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
  • Completion of a post-graduate perioperative nursing course, or two years recent experience in an equivalent setting with a minimum of two years of OR/PARR Nursing experience.
Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to promote safe, competent patient care.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the health care team.
  • Ability to recognize and intervene appropriately in an emergency situation.
  • Physical ability to perform duties of the position.
