Job description
Overview

As a Senior Technical Architect, you will be a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient technical solutions that align with RBC’s enterprise architecture standards. Leverage deep knowledge of RBC’s internal IT systems, OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), and VM-based environments to partner with cross-functional teams and deliver technical strategies that support the bank’s digital transformation and innovation agenda. You will engage and influence stakeholders through clear, concise, and technically sound presentations within RBC’s Architecture Review Board (ARB) processes.

What will you do?
  • Lead the design of end-to-end technical solutions for strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with RBC’s enterprise standards, security guidelines, and technology strategy.

  • Serve as a domain expert in RBC internal systems, OCP clusters (on-prem and cloud-based), and VM infrastructures, ensuring seamless integration with existing platforms.

  • Collaborate with business, infrastructure, security, and development teams to define solution architecture, deployment models, and transition strategies.

  • Prepare and deliver architecture artifacts and presentations for ARB and other governance forums, articulating complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Provide architectural oversight for project execution and development, ensuring adherence to target architecture and technology patterns.

  • Mentor solution architects and developers on architectural standards, tools, and best practices.

  • Continuously assess emerging technologies and vendor solutions to improve RBC’s architectural landscape and infrastructure efficiency.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Strong experience with VM technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent) and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to present and defend architecture solutions to RBC’s ARB and senior technology stakeholders.

  • Solid understanding of banking products, payment systems, regulatory requirements, and cybersecurity standards.

  • Proficient in architectural modeling tools (e.g., ArchiMate, UML), and documentation tools (e.g., Confluence, Visio).

  • Exceptional communication, influence, and leadership skills.
