Donna Cona Inc. is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager, for one of our key clients. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading large and high risk/complex projects, working with business unit and technology leaders, cross functional teams, project team members and external parties to ensure projects are well-defined, planned and delivered. The Senior Project Manager is accountable to the Project Sponsor for the delivery of business outcomes and value as set out in the project charter that outlines the agreed upon approach, project scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk and required resources. This role applies their advanced knowledge and experience in managing multiple large and complex projects and teams. This role leads the project work to implement solutions to complex problems through leading or supporting the collaboration with senior level stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager develops, contributes towards and adopts standards, tools, processes and best practices. The Senior Project Manager also provides coaching and mentorship on Project Management and project delivery methodologies and practices to less experienced Project Managers.
Responsibilities
- Lead large and high risk/complex projects, working with business unit and technology leaders, cross functional teams, project team members and external parties to ensure projects are well-defined, planned and delivered.
- Be accountable to the Project Sponsor for the delivery of business outcomes and value as set out in the project charter (scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk, resources).
- Apply advanced knowledge and experience in managing multiple large and complex projects and teams.
- Lead or support collaboration with senior level stakeholders to implement solutions to complex problems.
- Develop, contribute towards and adopt standards, tools, processes and best practices in project delivery.
- Provide coaching and mentorship on project management methodologies and practices to less experienced project managers.
Qualifications
- Five (5) to ten (10) years managing medium to large projects and programs varying in complexity, methodologies, or approaches;
- University or College education in Project Management, Business Administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Related industry certifications (PMP, Prince2) are considered an asset;
- Knowledge of project management practice, how to apply and adapt it in high complexity projects and lead the application of practice;
- Experience managing more complex stakeholder relationships;
- Business, technical and financial acumen with the ability to apply it to the project and business landscape at a higher level;
- Strong understanding of project methodologies and experience with project management tools (e.g. MS Project), task management and collaboration tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint;
- Strong knowledge in Agile, Iterative and Waterfall methodologies;
- Demonstrate strong understanding of risk assessment and management techniques;
- Experience managing medium – high complexity projects and/or lower complexity programs and managing expectations in different contexts;
- Experience in senior management/executive stakeholder relationship management across various business and technology areas;
- Able to influence and negotiate win-win outcomes among cross-functional teams;
- Demonstrated ability to exert significant discretionary effort and to identify personally with project success;
- Developing effective relationships and managing conflict with senior stakeholders across various technology or business areas;
- Experience managing a high volume of activity with a delivery focus, with the ability to prioritize and manage expectations appropriately;
- Experience executing on projects with a high attention to detail; and
- Experience coaching, mentoring and developing team members or project stakeholders.
