Overview

Engage in meaningful infrastructure development across Northern Ontario, focusing on design-build projects that encompass the full lifecycle from initial design to final delivery. This role offers engineers the opportunity to contribute to technically challenging and socially rewarding projects, impacting underserved communities positively.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze HVAC, plumbing / piping, and fire protection systems.
• Conduct mechanical system condition assessments and provide recommendations for upgrades or repairs.
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other team members to develop integrated designs.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and drawings for mechanical projects.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate existing mechanical systems and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Assist in the development of energy-efficient solutions to enhance building performance.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers.

Essential Skills

• P.Eng license with stamping capability in Ontario.
• Minimum 5 years of stamping experience in Ontario.
• 10+ years total experience, with consideration for exceptional candidates with 5+ years.
• Technical expertise in building engineering, specifically in plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection.
• Knowledge of Ontario Building Code (OBC) and National Building Code of Canada.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Team leadership experience with the ability to run and guide a team.
• Client-facing capabilities to manage projects independently.
• Experience with commercial or institutional building projects.
• Field experience or strong constructability knowledge.
• Familiarity with First Nations community projects.

Work Environment

The team consists of approximately 5 Engineers in Training (EITs) and 1 senior engineer. The standard workweek is 40 hours, with the possibility of overtime, which is minimized. The preferred work setting is in-office five days a week, although hybrid or remote work is possible for strong communicators. Projects are primarily located in Northern Ontario, including areas such as Timmins and Kashechewan. While no site visits are required, sign-offs are handled by dedicated personnel.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sudbury, Ontario.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $67.00 - $75.00 / hr.
