The Role

As a Senior Engineering Manager Technical Performance and Risk you’ll lead the global Independent Technical Review (ITR) programme helping to shape how technical risks are identified understood and managed across Babcock’s engineering operations. You’ll play a key role in establishing performance metrics and supporting the Technical Risk Review Board (TRRB) driving continuous improvement and capability development across our defence aerospace and engineering projects.

This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role that offers the opportunity to influence technical governance and performance at a global scale. It’s a chance to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career in a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation.

This full-time permanent role is based at any of our offices in the UK, Canada or Australia with flexible working patterns available. Travel to other Babcock and customer sites may be required.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Managing and continuously improving the Independent Technical Review (ITR) process
  • Conducting ITRs globally and analysing themes, metrics and risks to inform improvement initiatives
  • Developing Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs) and implementing data capture solutions
  • Supporting the operation of the Technical Risk Review Board (TRRB) including reporting and secretariat duties
Essential experience
  • Extensive background in systems engineering
  • Proven experience conducting technical reviews
  • Broad experience across commercial and defence projects
  • Strong understanding of technical risk and performance management
Qualifications

Chartered or Professional Engineer status with a recognised professional body or ability to obtain within 12 months of joining.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
