About The Role

We are a global business involved in complex investigations combining risk advisory, investigative and disputes expertise to deliver holistic solutions for our clients.

The Construction, Projects and Assets team offers unparalleled expertise to help our clients resolve disputes, improve construction project delivery, and develop processes that ensure improved project schedule and financial performance. The practice consists of construction and engineering professionals who work on some of the largest projects around the world. The Canadian team provides Claims Advisory and Quantum and Delay Expert Witness Services for owners and contractors, in support of major construction claims being disputed through mediation, arbitration, and litigation proceedings.

The Canadian Construction, Projects and Assets practice operates through a network of three Canadian offices : Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and has 20 billable fee-earners. The team employs professionals with a background in claims management, project design, project controls and project management across a wide variety of industries. We have professionals with construction experience in commercial buildings, civil works, mining, oil and gas, power, water, transit and infrastructure, across North America and other locations globally.

What You\'ll Do

FTI Consulting\'s Construction Projects and Assets business unit is seeking professionals with experience in project management, delay analysis and construction scheduling. As part of the Forensic and Litigation Consulting practice, our Construction Projects and Assets group assists owners, contractors and law firms in the prevention, management and resolution of construction disputes. The successful individual will have a bachelor\'s degree in engineering or construction management, with experience in project delivery for a contractor, owner or consultant. Prior experience in a consulting environment is not essential.

Responsibilities
  • Providing advice to contractors and owners on ongoing construction projects related to scheduling, cost control and contract administration
  • Assessing the cause and effect of impacts to project schedule and cost
  • Performing dispute related analyses to assess delays and cost damages, including :
  • Critical path delay analysis
  • Prolongation cost analysis
  • Discrete damages analysis
  • Cost escalation analysis
  • Labor productivity analysis
  • Producing and assessing contractor and owner claims for additional time and cost
  • Authoring and supporting on expert reports in dispute resolution procedures
  • Providing high-quality and timely service to our clients

What You Will Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum of 8 years' post-graduate experience in the construction industry or a related profession
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), mathematical, and organizational skills
  • Proficient working knowledge of report drafting, data analysis and presentation applications such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to travel to clients and FTI Office(s) as needed
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada for any employer on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master\'s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Proficient working knowledge of relevant industry schedule management software including Primavera P6, and MS Project
