Job description
What is the opportunity?

Operational Risk Shared Services (ORSS) Reporting and Analytics team provides reporting and services for the Group Risk Management (GRM)’s Operational Risk 2ND line of defense. As a Senior Analyst, Operational Risk Reporting you will be responsible for Production & Delivery of comprehensive, accurate, and timely data analysis and reporting to senior management in Operational Risk and stakeholders in GRM. Generating and gaining insight into RBC’s Operational Risk Management Framework and Oversight activities. Contribution to the effective management of the Enterprise Operational Risk across various regions and segments. Recommend and support business solutions that satisfy team and stakeholder needs, while exploring opportunities for value-add and efficiencies. Work with senior leaders across the organization and develop meaningful and insightful reporting for decision making

What will you do?
  • Manage the collection, aggregation, and analysis of Operational Risk data (e.g., loss/gain, loss of control, etc.) for both internal and external stakeholders, including ORX and OSFI, across multiple risk domains and regions
  • Work with Directors and Associate Directors in the Reporting team to deliver insightful analytics (trend/themes) on the Operational Risk Profiles within the periodic reports to Senior Management, committees, and the RBC Board
  • Support the production and alignment of a consolidated Enterprise and Regional Report with insights from data driven processes related to key risk measures.
  • Find opportunities to automate parts to produce Executive and Operational reports using advanced tools and methodologies to enable quicker delivery and greater consistency
  • Support the development and establishment of Key Risk Indicators that assess and highlight areas of significant risk exposures across multiple risk domains while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and risk appetite
  • Support the continuous improvement of reporting processes and methodologies that reflect industry standards and internal best practices, utilizing digitized risk control assessment and issue management tools and the data housed thereof
  • Assist in creating ad hoc reports requested by senior management or other stakeholders
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or related field (experience in these fields in lieu of degree).
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Python and Tableau (or similar visualization tools)
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) - to include VBA automation
  • 2-5 years of experience with analytical skills demonstrated by leveraging data to drive insights and value to an organization.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Track record in Risk Management – preferably Operational Risk Management or Technology Risk
Nice-to-have
  • Experience with advanced statistical and analytic concepts
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL - through relational database products.
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including requirements as well as process flows to align with best practices and stakeholder needs
  • Operational or Financial Risk experience.
