Job Summary:

The Department of Cellular & Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a Research Associate at 100% FTE to join the laboratory of Dr. Timothy Kieffer.

The department conducts world-class research to understand cellular and organismal functions, aiming to identify causes of human diseases. Research areas include neuroscience, endocrinology, development, and cancer, utilizing diverse model systems and advanced technologies like genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and imaging. The research aims to provide insights into diseases such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research focused on developing and assessing stem cell-based therapies for diabetes, including stem cell culture, differentiation, and hormone action studies.
  • Supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Participating in writing scientific papers and attending conferences.

All duties are to be performed under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Kieffer, with performance evaluated accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences or related field.
  • Five years of post-doctoral research with a proven publication record.

Skills:
