Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care across the long term care setting. This role requires a blend of clinical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

BRHD is a 64 bed long term care home that cares for the culturally deaf, hard of hearing and hearing elderly population. We are currently recruiting for 1 PT RPN for EVENING shift. This position is 5 shifts per pay period. This is a maternity leave position for 12 months.

The successful candidate must be available to work every other weekend, and must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and monitor patient health status, including vital signs and medical history.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and preferences.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding health management and disease prevention.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care for patients.
  • Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records.
  • Participate in case management activities to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist in pain management strategies for patients experiencing discomfort.
  • Provide specialized care for pediatric patients when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with healthcare regulations.
Skills
  • Proven experience in long term care settings is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in pain management techniques and strategies.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is preferred, but training can be provided.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and tests relevant to patient care.
  • Knowledge of senior care best practices, particularly in long-term care facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in clinical documentation.
Requirements
  • Valid Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) license.
  • College diploma for Practical Nursing from an accredited program
  • Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Proficient in medical terminology and documentation.
