Overview

Position Summary

Registered Nurse needed to join the North East Corporate Office team. The nurse will deliver compassionate patient care and support specialized mental health and substance use services, coordinating and assigning requests for consultation in alignment with Northern Health's mission, vision, values and strategic priorities.

Qualifications and responsibilities reflect the role of a Coordinator who prioritizes consultations based on urgency, liaises with physicians, nursing unit staff and other health professionals, supports care planning, provides education to health care professionals, and collaborates with community programs to support coordinated transitions to the community and care coordination with relevant community and emergency services partners.

Shift Rotation / Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, Days, 08:00 to 16:00

Fort St. John is described as “The Energetic City,” representing the region's oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture sectors. It sits along the Peace River Valley and serves as the hub of the Northeast with cultural and educational facilities. There are multiple schools and a Northern Lights College campus nearby.

Qualifications
  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN or RPN
  • Three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in an acute care Mental Health and Substance Use setting, plus training/education in opioid agonist therapies, addiction and psychiatric pharmacotherapy, substance use and chronic pain
  • Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction approaches, Stages of Change, and other relevant best-practice therapies
  • Statistical analysis, quality improvement methodologies, patient safety; two years of recent teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
