The Opportunity

Acadian Construction is seeking a strategic and experienced Regional Director to lead our expansion in Halifax with a core focus on commercial construction delivery and market development. This is a rare opportunity for a construction leader who thrives in a hands-on entrepreneurial environment and is eager to build a region team and reputation from the ground up.

In this role you will serve as Acadian's senior-most leader in Halifax responsible for regional strategy, operational oversight, and building high-trust relationships with clients, partners, and the local industry. You will work in close collaboration with the Business Development Manager who reports to you and supports client engagement and lead generation. Together you will form a high-performing tandem that drives regional growth while maintaining excellence in project execution. This is a leadership position that requires proven experience managing people, teams, and performance.

What you’ll do

Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership & Market Positioning
    • Set and execute the Halifax market growth strategy ensuring alignment with Acadian’s broader business objectives.
    • Represent Acadian in high-level client conversations, industry associations, and public forums.
    • Work closely with the Business Development Manager to prioritize pursuits, shape messaging, and guide relationship strategy.
  • Construction & Operations Oversight
    • Act as the regional authority on construction feasibility, pre-construction strategy, and client onboarding.
    • Support project delivery from early planning through turnover, working in tandem with our Moncton-based teams.
    • Ensure local projects reflect Acadian’s high standards of quality, service, and communication.
  • Regional Team Building
    • Help shape the future Halifax team by identifying talent needs, supporting recruitment, and fostering a strong local culture.
    • Lead and manage the performance of the Business Development Manager and future local staff, ensuring accountability, growth, and alignment with company values.
Qualifications
  • 10 years in commercial construction, ideally with cross-functional experience in project delivery, estimating, or pre-construction.
  • A deep understanding of the Halifax market and a well-developed network of developers, consultants, and industry stakeholders.
  • A proven track record of leading teams and managing people, in addition to driving revenue growth, winning work, and converting relationships into business.
  • You are proactive by nature, you anticipate needs, spot opportunities early, and don’t wait to be told what to do. You’re comfortable operating independently and making smart decisions with minimal oversight.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; you can inspire trust, mobilize teams, and represent the brand with confidence.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategic vision and day-to-day execution.
